Description:
College Application Essay Coach
We are a thriving international education firm with expertise in helping international students from 30+ countries make successful transitions to US schools. We are seeking a part-time College Application Essay Coach to join our new college counseling team. This is a remote role which can be done from anywhere in the world and requires a great deal of flexibility, both in terms of working hours and mindset. We are looking for people who are open-minded, have demonstrated experience in multicultural settings, and the unique ability to bring ideas to life through writing. This is not a simple editing job. Our Essay Coaches work closely with students to develop their essays from start to finish, helping them develop their own unique voices and bringing those voices to life through expertly crafted essay prompt responses. This position requires no travel.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- An undergraduate or graduate degree
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Mastery of the English language
- Experience in college essay coaching or editing
- Understanding of the US college application process
- Experience working with high school students and their families
- Ability to work flexibly, based on student availability including evening and weekend hours
- Experience in US college admissions is a plus
- Ability to speak, read, and/or write in a language other than English is a plus
Compensation: $25 - $45 USD per hour based on experienc

Responsibilities:
- Work on a project basis, staying with a single student as they write all their college essays, including personal statements and supplemental essays.
- Provide comprehensive developmental editing as well as highly detailed line editing as needed.
- Conduct live, virtual meetings with students as needed to understand their desired approach, help them outline, develop their voice, and guide them through each stage of the essay writing process.
- Actively communicate with students to keep them on track and hold them accountable for meeting deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the college counseling team, including counselors, tutors, and case managers.
