Description:
JOB SUMMARY
Dalhousie University, under the leadership of the Vice-President Research & Innovation, administers over $250M annually in research and innovation funding. Under the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, as part of Dal Innovates, and reporting to the Associate Director, Dal Innovates, the Collide Launch Manager manages programming opportunities for students and faculty at Dalhousie University to explore and experience innovation and entrepreneurship and develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to translate new ideas into innovations. The Manager oversees Launch, a 12-week virtual summer accelerator program providing participating teams with the skills and resources to go from concept stage to business ready stage, and develops innovative and entrepreneurial skills, mindset, and resilience in founders and empowers them to thrive in the innovation economy. The Manager also supports the Collide suite of programming, and other Dal Innovates progamming as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in business or a technical field such as life sciences, or engineering plus three to five years of experience in business and project management (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
- A high degree of organizational skill, interpersonal acumen and problem solving ability is required to provide oversight in balancing the multiple priorities, partners, facilities and programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, enthusiasm for working with and encouraging students, and a high degree of skill.
- Demonstrated experience in program planning, design, and delivery of programming content.
- Demonstrated experience in the development of program recruitment strategies.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with key program/project stakeholder groups as well as coaching and mentorship to students, facilitation and financial administration.
Responsibilities:
- Provides program management for Launch and Collide programming, including planning, design, and delivery of programs, working with facilitators to develop topics and participants, preparing materials for activities, and providing on-site assistance during program delivery.
- Works closely with other program site stakeholders, faculties across Dalhousie, and other Atlantic Canadian institutions to ensure effective design, communication, and engagement for all events programming, including Lab2Market.
- Develops and manages a recruitment strategy to increase program participation.
- Leads engagement of key stakeholder groups through individual outreach and events.
- Develops and manages program budgets in collaboration with Associate Director and Finance Manager for Dal Innovates.
- Leads and supports special projects, in collaboration with the Associate Director.
