Colorectal Enhanced Recovery Clinical Nurse Specialist Band 7
The Enhanced Recovery CNS works to improve the patient experience for individuals undergoing major abdominal colorectal surgery. This primarily includes a caseload of colorectal cancer patients and the postholder will work as part of the wider team of Colorectal Macmillan Nursing team. In addition to promoting and applying the principles of the Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS) programme the postholder will be responsible for contributing to the inpatient care of this cohort of patients and to their post-operative follow up. We are currently working with our Anaesthetics team developing a prehabilitation programme for patients undergoing major surgery. The aim of the post is to improve patient outcomes through streamlined patient flow, reduced length of stay and ensuring patients are active participants in the recovery process. You will work as a member of the cancer nursing team, within the Corporate directorate at Croydon University hospital.

The aim of the enhanced recovery programme is to improve patient outcomes through streamlined patient flow, reduced length of stay, and ensuring patients are active participants in their own recovery process. The post holder is responsible for the continued development and coordination of the perioperative care of patients undergoing major abdominal surgery. This includes enhanced recovery and prehabilitation pathways and aims to ensure the principles of high quality and evidence based patient care. The post holder will work alongside other Trust services, providing clinical expertise to advise and deliver effective, sustainable enhanced recovery pathways

We provide cancer diagnostic pathways and surgical treatment for colorectal, gynaecology, breast and urological cancer. The majority of colorectal surgery performed at CUH is for cancer patients although the role will include non-malignant surgery.
