Description:

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Commercial Credit Analyst II is responsible for supporting the Bank’s Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers/Bankers by independently reviewing complex commercial business, commercial real estate, and professional/executive credits and relationships. This role involves preparing detailed written presentations, including credit memorandums, credit requests, and annual reviews, with minimal supervision. The analyst conducts thorough credit investigations, spreads financial statements, and analyzes credit information related to loans. This role also provides essential support in preparing credit information for loan officers or committees and attends various committee meetings as required. The Commercial Credit Analyst II is a key contributor to the Bank’s credit decision process and is well-positioned for internal advancement opportunities within the Commercial Credit Department.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of 12 months of commercial credit analyst experience in a financial institution is required; 2-3 years of experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience in preparing written presentations, including credit memorandums, credit requests, and annual reviews, with supporting analytical reports.
  • B.S./B.A. in Accounting, Finance, or General Business is required.
  • Completion of 9 hours of coursework in accounting is preferred.
  • Completion of 12 hours of coursework in finance is preferred.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis, including the use of financial analysis software.
  • Advanced skills in spreadsheet and word processing software, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across various teams and with external partners.
  • Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation to succeed in an on-the-job training environment, with the ability to work independently.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in analyzing financial statements and preparing credit documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to ongoing professional development, including attending relevant workshops, seminars, and industry events.
  • Prior experience with financial analysis software and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A strong foundation in credit analysis and a desire to advance within the Commercial Credit Department.
  • Willingness to participate in committee meetings and contribute to discussions related to credit decisions.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull weights or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 10 lbs. on a regular basis and/or for extended periods of time during the workday.
  • Occasional overtime or extended hours may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and underwrite existing and new credit exposures for Commercial, Business, Private Banking, and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) opportunities.
  • Spread and analyze financial reports, including year-end financial statements, interim financial statements, and accounts receivable and payable aging reports, to assess creditworthiness.
  • Prepare comprehensive credit memorandums and credit requests, incorporating supporting analytical reports to facilitate informed credit decisions.
  • Conduct detailed credit investigations to determine the need for additional information or more thorough analysis.
  • Effectively communicate with loan officers, borrowers, and external partners to gather necessary information and provide credit references.
  • Ensure all credit files are current by updating them with the latest financial statements, agency reports, and other pertinent information.
  • Attend and actively participate in various committee meetings, contributing insights and analysis to support credit decisions.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and best practices by maintaining relationships with peers, attending seminars and workshops, and reading industry publications.
  • Assist with collateral inspections to verify the adequacy of loan security and ensure compliance with bank policies.
  • Manage multiple analytical assignments simultaneously, ensuring timely completion without compromising quality.
  • Take on additional duties and responsibilities as requested, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to meeting the Bank’s needs.
  • This position may require travel within the Bank’s geographic area.
