We are offering an exciting opportunity for a management professional in the role of Commericial Director, reporting to the VP Commercial for DSC EMEA. You will be responsible for strategically shaping new business deals and renewals, collaborating closely with country/clusters Fianance and S& BD teams and the EMEA pricing team to balance risks and reward, engage with local teams, and act as a key participant in customer negotiations, while also serving as an advisor on commercial challenges and potentially stepping in for other EMEA Commercial Directors or the VP Commercial when needed.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Early engagement on new business and key account renewals to ensure the identification of commercial risks and opportunities - optimizing commercial value in a mutually beneficial way. Become subject matter expert on commercial - supporting commercial turnaround of large LPMC’s if required.
  • Cooperation with Finance, Business Development, Account Development teams, Investment controlling, SD, Legal , I&RM, pricing teams, and other functions involved in the sales process or product development (e.g. Corporate Finance, M&A, IT, HR, Finance, Real Estate, etc.) to continuously improve the commercial value proposition and to ensure early engagement with stakeholders.
  • Create mutually beneficial commercial structures with clarity over risk-reward balance. Support of local commercial finance and Sales leads in early engagement with Customers, to help develop commercial value propositions and identify key risks, to aid bid no-bid decisions Participation in customer meetings with the opportunity owner.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal decision-makers. Build and maintain relationships with Customer CFO’s/Commercial leads and external suppliers/key partners. Work with stakeholders to ensure adherence to the contract lifecycle. Ensure early engagement with the bid process, BCA process, and contract approval process.
  • Coaching local commercial teams in the EMEA clusters in the pursuit of sales opportunities or product development. Implementation of global and regional guidelines within the area of responsibility. Contribute to taking and sharing best practices.
  • Assist in the recruitment, management, motivation, coaching, and development of key members of the commercial finance community keep them motivated, and oversee their task assignments. Generates commitment, motivation, and enthusiasm for the company and business units.

What is required from you?

  • Good knowledge of regional & global DSC business and DSC O2D process; often working in a matrix environment.
  • 5-10 years of Cross-functional experience - financial experience is a must and operational/S&BD experience is preferred.
  • Experience in managing complex projects effectively through to contract signing. Strong Finance knowledge and commercial understanding of deals. Knowledge of and experience with contracting.
  • 3-5 years of experience in one of the roles like Commercial Controller, Business Controller, Investment Controlling, Leadership Role, Business Management / Account Management, Business Development, Financial Accounting/Auditing, International experience / multi language preferred.
  • Awareness of DHL structure outside of DSC and EMEA region. Knowledge outside of DHL, or ability to access such insight.
  • Degree in Finance / Business Economics / Business Administration or similar.
  • Knowledge of Commercial & Accounting Standards and Legal Requirements regarding Financial Processes. Knowledge of DPDHL Financial Policies and processes (BCA , CAP). Knowledge of Financial Metrics and Tools.
  • Excellent in Business English, a second language preferred.
