Job Introduction
Heritage Portfolio have a fantastic permanent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Finance Assistant to join the Heritage Portfolio Team who are based out of Edinburgh, Scotland. You will spend 3 days onsite at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, providing field-based support on your other two days; your own transport is therefore essential.

We are looking for someone with proven relevant finance experience as you will travel to various sites regularly supporting General Managers to improve cost management/control/analysis. Excellent communication skills are also essential; you will enjoy providing support and building relationships. You will identify issues and add value, always looking to improve ways of working.
Your focus will be to ensure accurate accounting entries for purchase invoices, accruals, and prepayments, adhering to the monthly and weekly schedules. You will conduct weekly reconciliations of supplier accounts and manage outstanding customer/client debt. Additionally, you will accurately process weekly payroll according to the specified timetables and collaborate with onsite teams to capture all costs in the correct months. A high volume of levels of day-to-day processing will be required (Eprophit, payroll).
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Good Excel and Variance analysis Skills
- Desirable to have good working knowledge of SAP, Eprophit, Priava or other large similar systems.
- Desirable to have experience of producing management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
- Desirable to have knowledge of a retail and cash environment.
- Desirable to have knowledge of contract catering.
- Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at senior and junior levels.
- Expectation would be for the candidate to travel across various sites
- Desirable to be part qualified (ACCA/CIMA)
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- The overall requirement is for an operationally focused, robust, finance professional who can deliver a rigorous control environment, provide insight driven reporting and finance support to the operational teams across the estate.
- Support the financial operations and processes for all contracts under the Heritage Portfolio Scotland brand, to be robust, timely, accurate and clear with a focus on the RBGE contract (Approx 3 days RBGE, 2 Days Field support).
- Maintain and run site payroll using UDC System for RBGE.
- To support the preparation, production and reporting on the contract’s monthly financial trading results and support the finance team in maintaining all financial control procedures relevant to their area including revenue and cost controls.
- Review monthly results with the Finance Manager and operational heads of departments ensuring key revenue and cost drivers are high-lighted; challenge any overspends and provide this information accurately and on a timely basis.
- Form productive relationships with the operational teams at sites, to help embed a stronger commercial focus & accountability and ensure budgets and forecasts are robust and owned.
