Role and Responsibilities
Your key responsibilities
The purpose of the role is to support the FP&A Manager for Marketing to provide commercial and financial support to a product sub-division of the DX Divisions of Samsung Electronics UK!
Commercial decision support
- Support with the development, and implementation of the Marketing investment and management frameworks aligned to divisional commercial objectives.
- Increase efficiency and improve commercial results derived from Marketing investment across all product categories.
- Provide financial insight, analysis and appraisal support as required.
- Analyse and track the investment performance against the framework and plan, identifying risks and opportunities, working with marketing team to prepare contingency plans for below plan performance
- Evaluation of customer proposals and bids;
Financial planning
- Ensure robust forecasts are in place having challenged and interrogated the key inputs with the relevant stakeholders.
- Support the Divisions’ annual, quarterly and monthly financial planning processes.
- Provide the appropriate level of challenge to ensure that plans are robust, stretching and achievable.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis where necessary (e.g. scenario planning, sensitivity analysis).
- Track investment rates accurately and consistently, to minimise variance across the divisional forecasting cycles.
- Prepare summaries to align with the senior divisional team members, providing clear and concise reports which highlight areas of opportunity.
- Regular reporting to the wider business to ensure divisional spend is being monitored and tracked effectively by the team members in that function.
Driving financial performance
- Work closely and collaborate with Marketing functions to drive performance and ensure that the Divisions’ objectives and proposed metrics are delivered.
- Work with the Central finance team to prepare valuable reporting and analysis to support management and identify significant trends/issues, e.g. monitoring performance versus plan, status updates from the associated functions, etc.
- Find opportunities to improve financial performance and grow the business.
Financial management and control
- Ensure strong control and governance in the financial activities undertaken by the Divisions.
- Provide mentorship on the accounting for more sophisticated customer deals, acquiring technical advice from other areas of Finance where necessary and ensuring that transactions can be supported within agreed accounting standards.
- Ensure all marketing spend is governed and communicated in line with the processes set out by the division, to align with expectations of the senior team members.
- Provide systems’ information and support to the marketing functions.
Skills and Qualifications

- FMCG background requried. Experience within technology sector and a fast paced sales environment needed.
Soft Skills
- Strong commercial competence.
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment, take quick and effective decisions and direct others.
- Excellent analytical skills to understand business drivers and interpret financial results.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels, get key messages across succinctly and work with others.
- Proven track record in demonstrating accountability and ownership; proactive approach.
- Strong influencing skills to persuade management that your conclusions are correct and obtain consensus.
- Strong reporting skills, display key information and convey messages clearly, concisely and with impact.
- Work well under pressure, with good decision making skills under tight deadlines.
Hard Skills
- Qualified/Newly qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). with experience in industry
- Experience of working in technology or FMCG sectors;
- Hands on experience of using ERP systems (preferably SAP).
- Ability to implement change process to streamline and make existing processes more efficient.
- Excellent Excel skills, with experience of financial modelling.

Supporting your FP&A Manager with accurate and timely support on all commercial proposals, balancing marketing investment, key brand metrics, profit and sales performance using market and channel insights to maximise ROI and minimise commercial risk.
Acting as a bridge between Marketing investment and central finance operations to support accurate financial simulations.
Ensuring that divisional and sub-divisional forecasts are accurate and reflective of the correct commercial and accounting treatment.
