JOB DESCRIPTION
We’re looking for a passionate, driven, and strategic communicator to join J.P. Morgan’s Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Communications team to lead Media Relations for the Markets (trading & sales), Securities Services and Research businesses on a day-to-day basis, focusing on the EMEA region.
As a Commercial & Investment Bank Media Relations Vice President in CIB you will forge close relationships with the leaders of these businesses to provide strategic advice and guidance on securing impactful stories in key top tier, mainstream, trade and regional media outlets. You will also lead reactive media engagement. Based in London, your role will also collaborate with functional partners and communications colleagues across EMEA and globally, to tell a coordinated story that align with business objectives. Previous PR agency or in-house experience within banking/financial services preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, CAPABILITIES, AND SKILLS
- Relevant agency or in-house media relations experience preferred, ideally supporting banking or financial services companies
- Strong written and verbal skills with the confidence to communicate with senior stakeholders
- A good nose for news in the financial services, trading and market infrastructure spaces
- An obsessive attention to detail, a deep respect for journalism, an appetite for reading around the subject, and a curiosity to learn more about the markets, their infrastructure, and technology.
- BA in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism preferred, but this is not essential
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise high volume, high priority initiatives in a deadline-driven environment
- Ability to make sound media judgement calls
- Enthusiastic with a ‘can do’ approach for all aspects of their work
- Ability to work independently to execute on projects while taking direction from multiple managers in a timely manner
- Commitment to maintaining the firm’s high standards related to risk, compliance and its Code of Conduct

Responsibilities:
- Drive proactive and leading reactive media engagement for the firm’s Markets, Securities Services, Research businesses
- Forge close relationships with the leaders of those businesses to develop proactive communications plans that align with business objectives
- Manage day-to-day relationships with financial journalists and helping them as they write about the markets and the firm with commentary from the bank’s spokespeople
- Help to ensure journalists have controlled access to the firm’s extensive network of Research analysts and their reports
- Develop and maintain relationships with key members of the press
- Source comment opportunities and write pitches for thought leadership comment opportunities in the financial and international media
- Take the lead in curating key messaging for the various businesses to support spokespeople across the firm
- Manage logistics for media interviews or background conversations, and supporting our spokespeople throughout these interaction
- Assist in creating analysis and measurement reports for the regional Marketing & Communications team; creating and maintaining media lists
