Description:

Greenfield project development:

  • Lead commercial initiatives for originating green hydrogen / ammonia supply projects and maturing projects through decision gates to FID.
  • Responsible to integrate technical, commercial and financing workstreams and present a single face to internal and external stakeholders, including partners, with respect to the project.
  • Securing internal approvals – articulating risk / reward parameters, owner of gate papers.
  • Owner of project economics (ensuring input / output consistency and correctness with support/inputs from functional owners)
  • Leading all engagements with project partners, government stakeholders, financial institutions (with Finance)
  • Developing / negotiating commercial agreements: JDA, SHA, offtake agreement; providing commercial inputs to financing and EPC agreements
  • Responsible for marketing of production from the project to offtakers and as part of that developing holistic market understanding including
  • Assessing demand opportunities
  • Monitoring infrastructure developments
  • Tracking regulatory developments
  • Tracking competition

Tendered project opportunities:

  • Responsible for developing a full and precise understanding of the bid documents and rules thereunder
  • Responsible to integrate all internal workstreams (RE, project, technology) and present a single face to external engagements
  • Securing internal approvals – articulate risk / reward parameters; owner of gate papers
  • Owner of project economics (ensuring input / output consistency and correctness with support/inputs from functional owners)
  • Leading all engagements with external stakeholders in project country (including developing a full stakeholder map)
  • Ensuring fulfilment of qualifying and bid criteria.
  • Identification of partners for ‘f’ above. Thereafter, focal point for all engagements with partners on this project. Developing and executing JDA / ways of working with partners before submissions.
  • Scoping, selection, appointment and management of external consultants, if any

Buy-in opportunities:

  • End-to-end ownership of the buy-in opportunity
  • Coordinating internal functional support – legal, tax, finance, environmental, technical and leading the integrated project team for due diligence and commercial deal negotiations
  • Securing internal approvals – articulate risk / reward parameters, owner of gate papers
  • Valuation: Owner of all economic modelling and results, including full understanding of input / output variables and risks and rewards.
  • Identifying need for and appointment of external consultants, as applicable, and managing the C&P process for that
  • Leading all engagements with counter-parties
  • Developing / negotiating commercial agreements: JDA, SHA; structuring and negotiating JV set up

Profile:

  • 10-15 years of similar commercial deal lead experience in the energy sector with a proven track record of delivering at least one or two large scale projects, e.g. coal/gas-fired power, LNG projects, upstream oil & gas projects, that involve integration of technical, commercial and financing workstreams and progressing projects through decision gates to FID.
  • Technical education or prior work experience in technical disciplines will be preferred.
  • Skills: Strategic thinking, deal negotiation, deal structuring, commercial contracts development (with legal support) and finalisation, deep understanding of economic modelling and standard financial project evaluation criteria.
  • Personality traits: Team player with an ability to align across multiple disciplines, ability to engage with senior stakeholders with the required level of maturity.
