The team & the role
We are looking for an inhouse quantity surveyor and commercial manager to join the Construction & Design team. Working closely with project managers, and other internal and external stakeholders, you will be responsible for managing all commercial and financial aspects of construction projects, ensuring lean principles, whilst maintaining quality and compliance with industry standards.
- Prepare and manage project budgets & cost estimates
- Manage and take accountability of monthly accruals and forecasts
- Monitor project expenses and implement cost control measures to optimise profitability
- Set frameworks, DOA, governance for projects and control approvals
- Manage Requests for Tender (RFT) through to final award
- Review, negotiate, and manage contracts with principal contractors and suppliers
- Identify financial and operational risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Highlight opportunities for cost savings and process improvements to reduce or eliminate unnecessary cost
- Prepare and present financial reports, KPIs, and market analyses to senior leadership
- Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and environmental regulations
- Prepare cost benchmarking, value engineering and life-cycle cost analysis to identify risk and opportunities and support decision making
- Provide strategic supply chain recommendations based on market analysis
What’s in your toolkit
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field
- Expertise in cost control, contract negotiation, and project management methodologies
- Proficiency in relevant software (including MS Excel, project management software, and cost estimation tools)
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure
