WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • An organised, innovative and creative Senior Commercial Manager with in-depth knowledge and experience of working on Projects and Portfolio’s
  • Leading on collating costs and maximising value on a large project or portfolioof projects
  • Leading on and embedding a mindset within the team of financial andcommercial control within a project(s)
  • Demonstration of Strategic Change Management
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of procuring and managing supply chain
  • Maintain a Personal Development Plan to ensure continuous personal andprofessional development
  • Already in possession of or working towards professional accreditation
  • Proactively develop, mentor and coach immediate and wider team members toensure development of talent and succession within the team
  • Demonstration of working to deadlines including effective delegation, workingefficiently and to a high standard
  • Excellent communication skills with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Keen interest and experience in infrastructure projects
  • Demonstration of resilience and determination to succeed (achievement focus)
  • Proactively manage opportunities, risks and threats
  • MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent level of education or experience

As a Commercial Manager, you’ll have the following accountabilities;

  • Provides commercial input to Value Engineering reviews for different forms ofconstruction
  • To support the review tenders, including estimates, cost data and contract reviews
  • To manage the preparation of Target Cost for a Project, including the associatedrisks
  • Manage the preparation of the monthly CVR and associated commercial reports.
  • To be able to report and explain the commercial progress to senior divisional staff
  • Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
  • Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts
  • Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles
  • Co-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions

  • versees & gives advice on training & development including professional
  • Involvement with Schools & Universities to promote BB as a potential employer and to support sponsored students

ABOUT THE ROLE

team in Scotland as a Commercial Manager and you’ll deliver complex work that really
matters to our business and become involved in some of the biggest infrastructure
projects in the industry.

Purpose of the role:

  • Responsible for the financial management of a major, complex project(s) or anumber of projects from inception, tendering, negotiating and agreeing contractsand then commercially delivering Projects often worth many tens of millions ofpounds.
  • Integral part of the project senior leadership team where they hold keyresponsibilities associated with the commercial and financial success of eachproject.
  • Experienced individuals who have risen through the ranks of the industry andtheir role is broad and includes anything from risk management to procurement,financial reporting and managing the supply chain.
  • Proven skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, project management andteam leadership. They will also have an extensive understanding of theconstruction industry, flexibility and a talent for negotiation.
  • Track record of managing and developing a commercial team and bethemselves a Chartered Member or Fellow of the RICS, ICES or CIOB, and amentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becomingprofessionally qualified.
