Description:

COMMERCIAL MANAGER – RAIL ACCESS

As a senior member of the leadership team within the Commercial Function of Ports & Terminals, this role is responsible for the development and implementation of commercial strategies, plans, and processes to maximise efficiency of rail access.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a high standard of communication with DP World customers
  • Manage relationships with rail operators and intermodal terminal customers.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the requirements of each of DP World’s customer line.
  • Driving further development and interface solutions between customers and DP World to increase efficiency of container flow and logistic chain.
  • Leading edge customer service through deep understanding and knowledge of our customers’ requirements and needs
  • Provide statistical reporting and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, global and domestic market intelligence, cost and pricing modelling.
  • Develop a contract monitoring framework with the objective of accurately interpret and report on DP World’s performance against contract
  • Liaise with and negotiate with Rail Operators / Customers on Port Window access
  • Develop a clear understanding of import and export freight volume and strategies to increase movement through rail
  • Review all Current Port Windows & identify areas of improvement / changes to increase utilisation
  • Develop & manage KPIs on Window utilisation with Rail Operators / Customers
  • Provide market intelligence, statistical information, volumes and revenue and other key data to form the base for the annual budgeting process relating to DP World’s rail programs
  • Provide ongoing analysis and comparisons of actual volumes and revenue against budgets, targets and reforecast budgets.Oversee the daily, weekly and ad hoc supply chain and intermodal customer communications

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary Qualification in Statistics and Business and/or Finance and Business
  • At least 7 years’ experience in Rail Operations and understanding of Port Rail Access
  • Sound knowledge of Regulatory requirements in Rail
  • Experience in landside logistics and international supply chains
  • A high level of computer literacy, particularly in the area of Excel and databases
  • Strong attention to detail
