KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with potential clients.
- Confidence in making initial contact and building relationships with decision makers.
- Tenacity and resilience in handling early-stage client interactions.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple leads and tasks simultaneously.
- Good IT skills, including experience with MS Office.
- Experience with LinkedIn and other professional networking tools.
- A basic understanding of Solar PV technology, CSR or the UK energy market is advantageous but not essential.
- A background in telemarketing or sales development is highly desirable.
- Willingness to learn and adapt, with flexibility depending on your career aspirations.
Responsibilities:
As a Commercial Researcher, you will play an important role in identifying and qualifying potential commercial clients, engaging with relevant stakeholders, and booking meetings for our senior sales team. You will also conduct research on relevant tenders, and manage these leads through our pipeline or tracking system. This process will be automated once the new CRM will be introduced. Additionally, you will support the sales team with administrative tasks in the Sales Administrator’s absence or during busy periods, helping maintain smooth sales operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Research and Outreach
- Conduct research to identify potential commercial clients who could benefit from Solar PV installations.
- Initiate contact with target businesses via phone, email, and LinkedIn, effectively communicating the environmental and financial benefits of Solar PV and other renewable technologies
- Engage with decision-makers to understand their needs and relay insights to the senior sales team for follow-up.
- Book qualified meetings for senior sales representatives to further discussions with potential clients.
- Tender Research and Tracking
- Identify and track relevant tenders, especially within the public sector, for Solar PV and related renewable energy opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of tender opportunities, assisting the sales team in planning responses.
- CRM Management
- Accurately record all client interactions and research activities in the company’s CRM system, ensuring that information is up-to-date and accessible for the sales team.
- Sales Administration Support (Holiday and Absence Cover)
Support the Sales Administrator’s duties, including:
- Preparing quotes, sales documentation, and proposals.
- Handling client inquiries about products, services, and pricing.
- Coordinating with departments, including finance, operations, and technical teams, to ensure seamless handover and tracking of secured projects.
- Generating basic sales reports and maintaining relevant documentation.
- Reporting and Analytics
- Compile research findings and performance data to support sales reporting.
- Assist in preparing insights and presentations on potential leads, target sectors, and sales trends.
- Preparation of sales pack for sales meeting.
- Preparation of quarterly sales pack for board meetings.
