  • Previous experience of commissioning within the nuclear industry, or experience of Commissioning of facility plant and equipment within a regulated industry – Chemical Production, Pharmaceuticals, Defence, Oil & Gas etc.
  • Experience of the V&V lifecycle from plant safety case requirements definition, through commissioning preparation and on-site test, to evidencing of requirements via reporting and handover into operational use.
  • Must have an ability to use engineering judgment to support teams in problem solving through commissioning.
  • Must have an appreciation of regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to commissioning.
  • Degree qualified in an Engineering or STEM subject, or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
  • A track record of successfully managing multi-disciplinary technical teams.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

You will report to the Nuclear Facilities Engineering – Chief Engineer, where you will lead a high performing team of Commissioning and Systems Engineers and be accountable for ensuring commissioning activities across the Nuclear Licenced Sites are delivered in accordance with the Licence Condition for Commissioning (LC21).

This role will include a wide range of input into the governance delivery and scoping of Commissioning across various on-site projects, including:

  • Act as the Nuclear Licenced Site SME for LC21 Commissioning Arrangements and utilise industry best commissioning practice to provide improvement updates to the LC21 arrangements where appropriate. Provide coaching and advice to commissioning project leads to ensure project commissioning scope is developed in line with these arrangements and provide consultation on Design for Commissioning in the early design phases of projects.
  • Act as Chair the Commissioning Authorisation Group for the review and authorisation of Commissioning Test Procedures, Commissioning Reports and Commissioning Schedules. Approval of commissioning procedures, commissioning reports, and temporary commissioning change control relating to designated nuclear, conventional, and environmental safety systems.
  • Act as manager of the commissioning function to provide functional oversight of commissioning projects, people management, SQEP training and development across all personnel within the Commissioning Function. Support the Head of Capability in recruitment into the commissioning capability where required to maintain SQEP across required commissioning projects.
  • Act as the LC21 SME to provide governance oversight of LC21 Commissioning activities, in line with the LC21 Commissioning Strategy, to ensure these activities are conducted in compliance with the LC21 arrangements and good commissioning practice across both Nuclear Licenced Sites. This will include ensuring that key personnel undertaking commissioning activities are Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons (SQEP) through completing LC21 SQEP assessments and issuing of formal appointments.
