MINIMUM HIRING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Equivalent Industry Experience.
  • Minimum 7 years in Engineering or Operations roles, 3 in a commissioning support role.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate, commission, startup, troubleshoot, assess, and resolve various plant related issues, preferably in Industrial Gas facilities.
  • Experience and knowledge in the technology, design, and operation of Air Separation, Hydrogen (SMR / POx), HYCO, Gasification, Electrolysis, Utilities & Ammonia process systems preferred.
  • Strong background in all aspects of operating facilities including machinery, instrumentation and controls, electrical, mechanical systems, and advanced controls across multiple technologies.
  • Demonstrated operations and technical skills.
  • Ability to read P&IDs, isometrics, interpret design curves of field machinery & function checking of field equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in process safety, health, and local environmental requirements.
  • A strong commitment to employee involvement, team building and diversity.
  • Strong background in commissioning/ start-up and operation of rotating equipment
  • Field construction and commissioning/ start-up experience desired
  • Ability to read P&ID’s, isometrics, interpret design curves of field machinery and function testing/ validation of field equipment.
  • Possess strong leadership skills to drive both internal and external teams to their highest performance.
  • Regional travel of ~ 25 - 50% per year including on-site assignments with potential Global travel. The successful candidate for this position will be required to work out of the Allentown, Pennsylvania or Houston, Texas office.
  • The ability to represent the America’s Commissioning and Startup Engineering Organization and Air Products in front of our stakeholders (project teams, construction, operations, and our customers)
  • The ability to understand and the desire to learn a wide array of plant teams including electrical, piping, mechanical, controls, instrumentation, systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written, able to communicate between management, operations, maintenance, and customers.
  • Proficiency in English speaking and writing.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, computer and interpersonal skills combined with good communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Formal training and experience with leading RCA’s, the six-sigma process, and continuous improvement tools a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety of all site personnel by utilizing the Air Products Basic Safety Practice program, which includes Safety Work Permits, LOTO, Confined Space, etc. The position provides commissioning and startup support for organizing, executing, and auditing the safety systems, to build the Air Products safety culture into the site organizations being supported.
  • Provide Commissioning & Startup support and safety leadership for FCNs/ MOCs, OPHRs, and other safety related initiatives to drive process safety compliance.
  • Provide Commissioning and Startup support for the completion of the Pre-Safety and Startup reviews (PSSR).
  • Provide Commissioning and Startup support in complying with the Completions Tool deliverables.
  • Provide Commissioning & Startup support to the Operations organizations in order to effectively operate the Hydrogen (SMR / POx), ASU, HYCO, Gasification, Utilities and Ammonia facilities in Region to meet the customer’s satisfaction on safety, reliability, product quality, and flexibility of product supply while in compliance of contractual requirements.
  • Provide expertise by supporting the site Commissioning Manager for operating plants and ensuring that the equipment has been installed, operated, and maintained correctly.
  • Support planning activities for projects in the region; this may also include collaboration with other Commissioning and Startup teams globally.
  • Assist in the resolution of installation issues, procedures, and methods by working with Engineering and Operations.
  • Transfer of projects from Commissioning to Operations – completion of project-specific documentation, P&IDs, lessons learned, and project close-out report.
  • Developing work processes and strategies for commissioning and start-up activities.
  • Ensure Air Products standards, global best practices for EH&S, productivity, reliability, quality, and overall customer services are met
  • Lead the commissioning team in the commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Support the training of the Operations team through plant commissioning, startup, and normal operation
  • Support the site commissioning team Operations is maintaining accurate document control and monitor quality assurance initiatives during the commissioning and startup phase.
  • Support training of the site operations team to operate the facility insuring Environmental and Regulatory requirements are not exceeded.
  • Support all aspects of plant operations, DCS and field, to effectively operate the technologies supported to meet the customer’s satisfaction on safety, reliability, product quality, and flexibility of product supply while in compliance of contractual requirements.
  • Support the facilitation of operational excellence and customer satisfaction via operations productivity, reliability, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the commission and startup phase.
  • Provides Commissioning leadership to drive asset performance which includes, troubleshooting, plant efficiency, process safety, equipment reliability, and advanced controls initiatives.
  • Provide Commissioning leadership in supporting / leading investigations and Root Cause Analysis to identify & implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Provide Commissioning support for turnarounds as requested.
  • Participate in technical reviews, equipment design, installation, operation, and optimizations (productivity) of equipment & systems including validations, Mechanical Integrity and Management of Change along with procedures development & implementations.
