POSITION OVERVIEW

The Commissioning Superintendent reports directly to the Commissioning Manager. They will support the pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up of the assigned project. The Commissioning Superintendent will provide specialty assistance to various CSU teams, Field Service Technicians, and designated third party contractors that will be engaged in commissioning and start-up of the facilities. This position interfaces closely with the project engineering management, project management, and the commissioning team during all phases of the project. This role will also provide support to personnel and will uphold the implementation and standard of safety processes on-site during the execution of commissioning and start-up. #LI-LW1

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Extensive Knowledge of Process plant operations, including troubleshooting, chemical analysis, and recommendations for process improvements.
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment and operations is required.
  • Able to lead, communicate and prioritize effectively during normal, abnormal and emergency situations.
  • Able to maintain situational awareness during normal, abnormal and emergency situations.
  • Able to complete all required initial and ongoing training and successfully pass written, verbal and practical evaluations to maintain individual Operator Qualifications and other certifications as required.
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift schedule
  • More than 20 years in an Operations role with experience working in electrical, mechanical instrumental, or other professional training preferred.
  • More than 10 years in a management role, with prior experience in an Engineering office.
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Must be able to use MS Office Suite.
  • Experienced in Industry Safety Standards and requirements.
  • Must be able to read, interpret & prepare applicable technical information.
  • Must be experienced with Control systems e.g. DCS/SCADA experience.
  • Must be experienced with mechanical equipment like, pipelines, Valves, Pumps and other mechanical equipment with moving parts.

Responsibilities:

  • Hold and/or attend daily safety meetings.
  • Insist on strict adherence to Lock-Out / Tag-Out Procedures (LOTO) and policies.
  • Review test procedures for component and system testing.
  • Understand and adhere to all contractual requirements, including permitting and EPA requirements.
  • Development and execution of Commissioning and Startup Procedures
  • Leading the craft personnel and client’s Operations staff during commissioning and startup activities.
  • Provide direct/indirect project technical expertise to facilitate FAT, construction, commissioning and interim operations
  • Assist in initial energization, functional testing, and operation of plant systems.
  • Track progress of specialized systems and provide management with timely reports on the progress, activities, and provide professional assessment for improvements (if any).
  • Monitor original equipment manufacturers’ work that affects plant operations are being completed as per the regulatory and design standards.
  • Perform analytical assessments during system walk-downs and identify exceptions, deficiencies, and providing strategic information for improvements.
  • Perform Chemical analysis’s and work with third-party laboratories to confirm findings (as needed)
  • Knowledgeable with chemical compositions for water treatment.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot underlaying conditions and make recommendations and provide guidance to correct the issue in a timely and safe manner.
