JOB SUMMARY

We are currently looking for a Committee Advisor to join our Governance Office, Committee Services Team Function within the Enablement group.
This is a full-time opportunity, on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.
Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.
We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role will lead the critical management of the Agency’s medicines, devices and other independent advisory committees by working closely with the Chair of the relevant committee and the wider Committee Services Team.
The role will also be responsible for effective liaison with other internal and external stakeholders to ensure committee meetings are used effectively, appropriately and in line with policy and governance.
Working in a small, friendly team, the postholder will play a vital role in ensuring Agency obtains independent advice to meet its public health objectives.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Our successful candidate will:

  • The role requires an organised and methodical approach, with attention to detail.
  • The postholder will need great relationship building skills and strong communication skills.
  • Post holder will need to be self-motivated and ensure key deliverables are met to agreed timelines.
  • Experience of using MS Office and interest in learning new packages is essential.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and collaborative office setting.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the scheduling, preparation, and overall organisation of committee meetings, ensuring they are effectively run and compliant with the Human Medicines Regulations. Take responsibility for coordinating agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions to support effective decision-making.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Chairs and expert committee members, serving as the primary point of contact to facilitate effective communication and decision-making.
  • Manage the collection and oversight of Declarations of Interest in line with policies and codes of practice, ensuring meetings and decisions align with governance standards and support public confidence.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline committee management processes, ensuring consistency across the organisation, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide advice and mentorship to team members, fostering their professional development and building a collaborative team capable of delivering innovative solutions to challenges.
