Description:

SUMMARY

The Communication Coordinator assists the pastor or department-director level roles in preparing information for effective and efficient communication of parish initiatives and activities utilizing print and electronic platforms.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field and three (3) or more years’ experience and/or training.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish and English for oral and written communications required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals, articles, and periodicals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to successfully make public presentations individually or as a team member.
  • Must adhere to all Diocesan Policy for communications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see up close and from afar. Must be able to use basic office computer hardware and peripherals, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to communicate verbally and in written form. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (15 pounds).

Responsibilities:

The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance.   • Develops cohesive communication strategy across all platforms and audiences for the parish.
  • Executes marketing strategies and campaigns that generate interest and participation in all platforms digital and print.
  • Gathers, synthesizes, and creates reports on statistical analysis, including website and social media analytics, to establish the effectiveness of the communication strategy.
  • Manages day to day operations across all digital platforms.
  • Maintains and updates the parish website, including calendar changes, and regular content updates.
  • Manages all content and tracks analytics for social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, YouTube).
  • Responsible for the creation and preparation of parish bulletin. Creates, proofreads, and edits content for the bulletin.
  • Writes, designs, and releases weekly newsletters to parishioners as directed by supervisor.
  • Creates compelling content for all platforms and audiences using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.

. Responsible for the video recording/streaming of Sunday Mass 10AM & Noon as requested.
. Prepares PowerPoint computer slides for the different mass services throughout the year.

. Responsible for organizing and utilizing volunteer services.

  • Provides administrative and clerical support to the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
