ABOUT US
The Chair of Political Economy at UCL was created in 1827 in memory of David Ricardo, thus establishing the first Department of Economics in England. The department of Economics has an outstanding international reputation in key areas of current research. The department offers a number of undergraduate degree programmes, a vigorous undergraduate affiliate student programme, Masters programmes in Economics and Economic Policy and a structured MPhil/PhD programme. The Department of Economics at UCL is a medium-sized department by UK standards with a regular academic staff of 50, but it is supplemented with full-time research staff and part-time teaching lecturers plus an active programme of academic visitors. There are currently over 1000 undergraduates and more than 150 graduate students studying in the department. Responsibilities:
Main purpose of the job The Department of Economics seeks a proactive and resilient Communication Manager who specialises in managing the Department’s communications and marketing on a strategic and operational level. The postholder will lead on digital media strategies, wider media relations, and student recruitment campaigns. They will also oversee the Department’s event portfolio. The postholder is responsible for advising on communication and marketing practices across the Department and upholding a culture of highly professional and effective communications and marketing. The postholder will promote the benefits of good communication to academic and administrative staff in order to maintain and enhance the Department’s research and educational profile The postholder will work in close collaboration with UCL Vice Provost External Engagement (VPEE) office,, the Faculty of Social & Historical Sciences Marketing and Communications team, to maximise engagement and ensure that activity within the Department supports and complements the University Strategy.
