We’re seeking a service-oriented communications professional with strong communications generalist skills and exceptional communications planning and writing abilities. THE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge of communications best practices and a strong understanding of communications systems and tools is required, including social media, social media management tools, websites (WordPress), email marketing/ management tools, design tools (Canva and Adobe Suite), and audience segmented/ microtargeted newsletter tools. Proficiency in photography, videography, Photoshop, and/ or other multimedia skills and tools is an asset.
Understanding of risk and risk mitigation as a core plank of communications systems is required.
Thirst for excellence and desire for professional growth is critical to success.
Service orientation and the drive to work collaboratively across teams is critical to success.
Completion of post-secondary education in a subject relevant to communications (degree or diploma) is generally required - though equivalencies may be considered with strong professional experience and clear mastery of all required skills and competencies for the role.
5-7 years of strategic communications experience is generally required - though candidates with slightly less experience may be considered if they have completed directly relevant education; have demonstrated significant progressive corporate communications achievements; and can show clear mastery of all required skills and competencies for the role.
Affiliation with IABC or CPRS an asset.

Responsibilities:

Own the Council’s Editorial Calendar, strategically positioning and sequencing the Council’s overarching communications.
Build and deliver communications strategies, plans, and tactical tools to align with brand identity and advance the Council’s strategic plan, including managing external vendors and project expenses as/ if required.
Create compelling content that captures the Council’s voice and meets the objectives of communications plans.
Manage and use best practices/ clear systems to store and track communications products and assets, ensuring legal compliance, brand consistency, and risk mitigation.
Build key messages associated with initiatives and projects to cohere with the Council’s voice and advance goals and objectives.
In collaboration with broader unit, respond to emergencies and help execute emergency communications plans as required.
In collaboration with broader unit, support media relations and liaise with media as required.
Foster strong, collaborative, service-oriented relationships both within and outside of the Council.
Provide general support to the broader Communications & External Relations and Regulatory Affairs teams as required to help backfill and mutually support overall business continuity.
Actively participate in projects, cross-functional teams, and learning opportunities to support the Council’s culture and operations.
