SUMMARY

VCU’s Facilities Management Department is seeking to hire a Communications and Marketing Coordinator in Parking and Transportation Services.
The Communications and Marketing Coordinator for VCU Parking and Transportation plays a vital role in promoting the department’s services, achievements, and initiatives to the VCU community. This individual is responsible for developing strategic communication plans, crafting compelling narratives, and managing digital and print content across various platforms. The position supports departmental goals by coordinating and executing promotional campaigns, ensuring clear communication of parking policies, transportation/parking updates, and special programs. While this position reports to the AVP for Finance & Administration, the position is embedded with Parking and Transportation, where it also reports to the Executive Director, this role works closely with the Assistant Directors and other team members to manage day-to-day communications and enhance public relations efforts.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Provide direct support to the Executive Director and Assistant Directors in coordinating departmental marketing, promotion, and communication efforts, including timelines for distribution, campaigns, and strategies to ensure goals are met
  • Support the Executive Director on the creation of powerpoints, presentations, graphics, and other mediums for outreach with various groups including university senates, regional and national conferences, and internal meetings
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging across all channels
  • Create engaging content for digital platforms, including websites, social media, newsletters, and emails. This includes writing, editing, and ensuring materials meet VCU branding standards
  • Develop talking points, messaging, and other materials for senior leaders related to departmental initiatives and events
  • Oversee the creation and execution of newsletters, reports, and other publications for students and staff, ensuring proper approval and adherence to VCU guidelines
  • Coordinate events, including the logistics planning for major P&T events, such as forums, and serve as a spokesperson or liaison for public relations efforts
  • Oversee the creation, design, and distribution of promotional products and graphic materials for P&T, ensuring adherence to VCU’s branding requirements
  • Write, edit, and distribute press releases, articles, and other content to promote the department’s services in a positive and engaging manner
  • Maintain an inventory of marketing materials, including vendor lists and timelines for routine marketing and publication needs
  • Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to increase awareness of departmental initiatives and services
  • Track and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and outreach efforts, adjusting strategies based on data insights
  • Lead crisis communication efforts during emergencies, coordinating with the university’s public affairs team to ensure timely, effective responses
  • Conduct market research using surveys and analyze data to inform communication strategies
  • Manage website content to ensure it is current and aligns with VCU’s accessibility and design standards
  • In coordination with Accounts Management team, attend fairs, new employee orientations, student orientations, etc. to promote Parking and Transportation service offerings and answer questions
