QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have a University Degree or College Diploma in the Arts, Journalism, Media Arts, Communications or related field;
Must have communications experience in corporate and institutional settings, former experience in a political office would be considered an asset;
Must have the ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required;
Must have some knowledge of municipal government processes, and how they interact with other levels of government;
Must have working knowledge in print, graphic and digital related mediums;
Must have exceptional oral presentation/communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and consultative skills;
Must have the ability to work independently, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and work after hours when required;
Must possess strong assessment and organizational skills together with a proven ability to work within a team.

Responsibilities:

This position is integral to the Office of the Mayor’s communication team and purpose to promote Windsor’s momentous economic and population growth success story. Reporting to the Mayor’s Chief of Staff, responsibilities include the day-to-day implementation of an overall communication strategy and plan; Working closely with the City of Windsor’s corporate communication team to ensure a coordinated approach to media and community engagement; Interacting with members of the Windsor-Essex media and community groups and associations; Supporting the Mayor’s Director of Communications to co-ordinate communication activities from the Mayor’s Office including announcement planning, researching, writing, editing a broad range of materials including news/media releases, digital media, brochures, special event literature, etc.; Providing advice and assistance with the planning of special events; Working with members of city council and city administration on individual projects.
