Description:

Ardmore is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Associate to join our team. This role is responsible for managing both internal and external communications, including social media, media outreach, graphic design, and photography. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in writing, editing, and producing a comprehensive range of communication materials, as well as hands-on experience designing, executing, and implementing strategic communications campaigns. This is a key position that will help drive awareness and engagement around Ardmore’s mission to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in communications, social media management, public relations, or graphic design.
  • Strong background in writing and editing communication materials, with the ability to adapt voice and tone to various audiences.
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to proofread and edit content for accuracy, clarity, and stylistic consistency.
  • Basic photography and photo editing skills preferred.
  • Experience developing and executing communications campaigns.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Social Media Management
  • Plan, create, and publish engaging content across all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter).
  • Monitor social media trends and provide insights to enhance Ardmore’s online presence.
  • Respond to social media inquiries and engage with followers to build community and awareness.
  • Internal Communications
  • Draft and distribute internal newsletters, announcements, and memos to staff.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure consistent communication and brand alignment across the organization.
  • Manage and update internal communications channels (e.g., SharePoint, email systems).
  • Strategic Writing & Content Development
  • Develop strategic messaging for communications campaigns, including proofreading, editing, and drafting email communications, newsletters, fact sheets, and executive thought leadership pieces.
  • Write comprehensive materials for stylistic consistency, voice, and tone, ensuring clarity and adherence to brand and writing style guidelines.
  • Partner with content contributors to ensure all content is timely, accurate, actionable, and fits brand standards.
  • Plan, develop, write, and edit public-facing materials for a variety of external audiences, including blogs, web content, editorials, newsletters, and collateral.
  • Media Relations & Public Relations Strategy
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and event announcements.
  • Identify and strategize public relations opportunities as part of broader marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local media outlets and journalists.
  • Track and report on media coverage and public relations success metrics.
  • Graphic Design & Photography
  • Create and edit graphics for digital and print materials, including flyers, social media posts, and newsletters.
  • Assist in photographing events, people supported and staff, and programs for promotional use.
  • Ensure all visual content aligns with Ardmore’s brand guidelines.
  • Event Communications & Support
  • Assist in planning and executing communication strategies for Ardmore’s events and campaigns.
  • Attend and provide communication support (e.g., live social media updates, photography) at key organizational events.
