The Western Communications team provides strategic advice to university senior leadership, faculty, staff and teams of internal and external communications staff across Western in order to build the university’s brand on a local, national and global scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Executive Director, Strategic Communications, the Communications Consultant will provide leadership and manage the development, implementation, monitoring and assessment of communication plans and strategies on abroad range of high-profile topics and initiatives.
The role will identify opportunities to enhance the regional, national and global visibility and image of the University with a goal of building and promoting Western’s brand and reputation with key stakeholders.
Key accountabilities include consulting with various leaders across campus to better understand desired outcomes and needs within the University’s presidential and vice-presidential portfolios; strengthening Western’s position in university rankings; and advancing Western’s research reputation with key external audiences nationally and globally
ROLE OVERVIEW
Western Communications is looking for a strategic thinker to manage communications plans and strategies regarding high-profile topics and initiatives arising within the presidential and vice-presidential portfolios.
The role requires a strong performer who can serve as a strategic advisor to various University portfolios including Western Research, the Offices of the Provost; the Vice-Provost, Student Experience and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion.
The end goal is to ensure the timely delivery of communication plans and tactics to achieve their objectives and strengthen Western’s reputation regionally, nationally and globally.
