Description:

Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy:
The Communications Coordinator is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies to increase awareness of the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre’s mission, services, and impact, including internal and external communications for the Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence. This role will play a key part in building relationships with stakeholders, engaging the community, and promoting the Centre’s programs and fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging copy for various platforms (website, social media, newsletters, brochures, annual reports)
  • Manage social media presence and engage with followers
  • Write and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other media materials
  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets
  • Assist with the planning and execution of special events and campaigns

Support fundraising initiatives:

  • Develop compelling fundraising materials and campaigns
  • Promote fundraising events and activities

Maintain brand consistency:

  • Ensure all communications adhere to the Centre’s brand guidelines
  • Develop and maintain a consistent brand voice across all platforms

Website management:

  • Regularly update website content
  • Ensure website is user-friendly and accessible

Internal Communications for the Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence:

  • Develop and distribute internal newsletters, announcements, and other communications to staff and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate communication and information sharing between departments and teams within the Centre.
  • Support the development and implementation of internal communication strategies.

External Communications for the Sheldon Kennedy Centre of Excellence:

  • Promote the Centre’s programs and services to the public.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, potentially including community partners, donors, and government agencies.
  • Represent the Centre at community events and conferences.

Administrative support:

  • Maintain media lists and contact databases
  • Track media coverage and analyze communication effectiveness
  • Provide support to other departments as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years of work experience in a communications role
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong social media and digital marketing skills
  • Experience with website content management systems
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles and experience with design software (an asset)
  • Experience working with non-profit organizations (an asset)
  • Passion for the Centre’s mission and commitment to child welfare
