QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree or certificate in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in a communications or related role
- Proven knowledge of marketing and communications best practices and ethics
- Experience in Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), Canva and Meltwater is an asset
- Experience working with Google Suite is an asset
- Strong written communications skills in English, with a passion for creative and engaging writing
- Strong sense of initiative and passion for learning
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills that enable you to adhere to strict deadlines while maintaining critical attention to details.
- Critical thinker with a strong analytical approach
- Creative, forward-thinking mindset with an innovative approach to problem solving
- Capable of working independently and as a team member
- Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent

Responsibilities:
- Write content to support communications and marketing efforts, such as the organization’s internal and external website, blog posts, newsletters, weekly HR updates, brochures, intranet articles and social media posts.
- Create external communications, such as success stories and case studies for the company website
- Media monitoring and measurement on Meltwater
- Develop visual communication materials and graphic design elements, not limited to slide decks, brochures, case studies, etc.
- Ensure consistency and adherence to brand voice and maintain brand integrity in communications
- Analyze results of communications campaigns and strategies to determine how to improve them
- Recommend ways to improve the public’s perception of the organization
- Research and report on current industry trends, social media practices, etc.
- Coordinate meetings, presentations, and press conferences and the volunteers, vendors, and staff to support these events
- Interact with the media at events and answering questions on the organization’s behalf
