JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Communications Coordinator.
Reporting to the Manager, Digital Content & Events, this position is responsible for creating, developing, and executing OPG’s social media program, including LinkedIn, X, Facebook, and Instagram, and helping manage, develop, and execute content for digital and CRM programs

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the development and execution of OPG’s social media program, including X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. This will include researching, writing, editing, designing, and publishing social content; channel monitoring and community moderation; liaising with subject matter experts and stakeholders (internal and external partners); and ongoing reporting.
  • Help manage, develop and execute content for external email communications. This will include writing, editing, publishing, and deploying email content; liaising with content subject matter experts; assisting with email development; and working with IT partners to troubleshoot and resolve technical concerns.
  • Establish and sustain sound working relationships with key sources within OPG to create ongoing opportunities for content development. This will include regular weekly calls with site contacts and cold calls to sources.
  • Attend employee and public events at OPG locations, the site information centers, or in the local community as required to capture content for social media or other communications programs.
  • Keep abreast of new media and social media options and emerging trends in web technologies.
  • Assist in providing information to and coordinating spokesperson responses to employees, community stakeholders, and media.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of communications programs and strategies.
  • Provide back-up support in the planning and execution of employee events

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 4-year University Degree in communications, marketing, public relations or journalism
  • 6+ years of experience with digital and social media, experience in developing web-based communications materials, and proficiency with publishing and content management systems.
  • Requires strong writing skills and experience in writing for a variety of digital mediums, with a focus on social media.
  • Requires experience with basic graphic/video design, project management and developing communications.
  • Requires experience with digital publishing, content management, and social monitoring tools.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment

    This position is moving to OPG Corporate Headquarters: In Summer 2025, OPG will officially welcome employees to our new Corporate Headquarters located at 1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario. This position will be temporarily based in Toronto, ON until the move to Headquarters in the Summer of 2025.

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package.
