Communications Coordinator, External Affairs and Media

  • Salary Level HEW 5 + 17% Superannuation
  • Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, and hybrid ways of working

About the role
As the Communications Coordinator, you will work closely with the External Affairs and Media team to provide strategic communications support designed to protect, promote and position the University.
As the successful candidate, you will have a strong sense of the media landscape, having worked or studied in a relevant field, and will be able to contribute fresh and creative content ideas that supports the strategic direction, goals and objectives of the team.
Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager, Corporate Affairs and Social Media, you will triage and provide support for external media queries, collate and present data and analytics to assess the performance of media projects, source stories for external audiences, capture, write and edit content for multiple channels and be a contributor to the RMIT News channel.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
-

Understanding of how to work in a highly effective communications function and contribute to communications planning, delivery and measurement that contribute to strategic organisational objectives.

  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated passion for delivering creative and impactful communications experiences for external audiences.
  • An understanding of the Australian media landscape and what makes a good news story.
  • Experience in working with new media and digital technology to improve outcomes.
  • A working understanding of how to use data to identify opportunities.
  • Ability to participate in a workplace culture of high performance and accountability for outcomes.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.
