About the role
This brand-new Communications Manager role will manage and support a wide range of internal and external communications within King’s Digital. This will include establishing communications plans and developing internal and external channels and content strategy to support engagement with key audiences and stakeholders.
Working closely with colleagues in Communications & External Affairs, and Brand & Marketing, as well the University’s Communications Network, the Communications Manager will advise on how best to communicate to different audiences to raise awareness, drive understanding and engagement within the remit and collaborative work of King’s Digital.
The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills and be able to create impact through their engaging and innovative communications. They will have a thorough working knowledge and experience of a broad range of communications planning and activities.
This is a hybrid role and post holders will spend part of their working week on campus and part of the week working remotely.
This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent - and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Experience of planning and implementing communication strategies and plans working with a wide range of stakeholders
2. Experience and skill in creating and managing web content within a content management system and use of HTML
3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including editing and proof-reading to a high level
4. Experience of absorbing and evaluating complex information from various sources to create clear and engaging content
5. Ability to relate easily to a wide range of people and different communication styles in a large and complex organisation
6. Ability to produce effective content for a varied audience, across different channels in a timely fashion and evaluating their success
7. Experience of adjusting messaging, tones and styles for different internal and external audiences
8. Experience of influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, often beyond your immediate team, applying judgement and identifying solutions to complex situations
9. Self-motivated, results oriented and with a ‘can do’ attitude
10. Willingness and ability to adapt quickly and responsively to changing or developing areas of work as required
Desirable criteria
1. Experience of working in the Higher Education Sector or a large matrix organisation
2. Demonstrable commitment to continuous professional development in communications (including but not confined to advanced training, participation in conferences/networks)
