Description:

We are looking for a Communications Officer to join our growing team and further strengthen our media relations, stakeholder engagement and internal communications programme.
With a flair for storytelling, the ability to convey organisational updates and the skills to engage staff, this individual will be a highly motivated, creative self-starter.
You will support the Communications team in the day-to-day management of our intranet and internal staff channels, organise and support in-person and virtual events, as well as work closely with our services to share their successes through PR.
To thrive and excel in this role you will have an aptitude for producing engaging content, be able to clearly articulate the Cygnet story and have the confidence to liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
We need somebody who is proactive, filled with energy and an inquisitive attitude. You are solution-focused and seek opportunities.
The successful candidate will be joining our fun and hardworking Communications and Marketing Directorate with opportunities to work with colleagues across the organisation.
This position is for someone based in the UK. The role will be remote working, however there will be an expectation for travel throughout the UK for meetings, events and to visit services.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Writing, editing, proofreading copy for different audiences/channels.
  • Supporting the planning, organisation and delivery of events (virtual and in-person)
  • At least two years’ experience in a similar role
  • A meticulous eye for correct spelling and grammar is essential.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with other teams and external stakeholders
  • Proactive, self-motivated with the ability to think creatively.
  • Tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive issues.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

DESIREABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of WordPress, Poppulo, Mailchimp or similar systems.
  • Experience of design and photo and video editing programmes.
  • Experience or interest in public affairs.
  • An understanding of confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

  • Making use of a broad range of content and channels to tell our stories, build an understanding of what we do and enhance our reputation.
  • Writing, editing, proofreading, and formatting copy for press releases, internal communications, websites and more.
  • Working closely with our External Communications Manager to help handle media enquiries, respond to the news agenda and monitor sector trends.
  • Collating and analysing media coverage
  • Providing interview support and media training/advice to key spokespeople as needed.
  • Demonstrating an understanding and ability of how to manage media crises and protect the organisation’s reputation
  • Supporting our Internal Communications Manager to effectively convey and explain updates to policy, process and new innovations across our workforce.
  • Being a key link to our Digital Transformation colleagues to champion new systems, drive adoption and mitigate resistance.
  • Creating and disseminating content for internal channels including newsletters, magazines, intranet, digital screens and more.
  • Supporting the planning, organisation and delivery of engagement events (virtual and in-person), including our annual Staff Achievement Awards.
  • Supporting our staff networks.
  • Contributing to the production of corporate reports.
