Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Communications Specialist to join and strengthen our Group Marketing and Communications team. In this role, you are playing a key role in positioning Ahlstrom as the preferred sustainable specialty materials company through various communications activities and with a special focus on external communications. This role is responsible for our key external communications channels and our external content.
This is a temporary position covering maternity leave until approximately the end of August 2025. The role reports to the Vice President, Group Marketing and Communications and is based at Ahlstrom’s headquarters in Espoo, Finland.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Run press release process, ensuring high quality of content that supports our company narrative and company strategy, write and edit press releases, send press releases and ensure media lists are updated.
  • Pitching to media in line with agreed plans, identifying key trade medias, and follow-up of media performance.
  • Support in crisis communication as necessary.
  • Content production for Ahlstrom’s website and updating specific sections as needed.
  • Support in creating content on various topics including sustainability and innovation to different channels.
  • Support business units in their marketing efforts through communications in different channels and with different initiatives.
  • Support with various projects, including Ahlstrom’s website platform renewal project.
  • Communicate internally on strategic topics when relevant.
  • Support internal communications team where necessary eg. with internal webcasts and other activities.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU SHOULD HAVE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or Marketing or other relevant field
  • A few years of experience in communications, experience from working in a stock listed company is a plus.
  • Good IT skills: familiarity with appropriate office applications - Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of and interest in social media.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral in English and Finnish
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator is an asset.
  • Understanding of communications, public relations and marketing best practices.
  • You are self-motivated and enjoy working on different topics and adding value to the team.
  • You have strong project management and time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
