Description:

The Communications Specialist works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to draft, edit, and share communications content. This Specialist is part of the Associate Experience team within Human Resources.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Specialist drafts communication materials such as newsletters, email announcements, and other related content. Partners with Human Resources, IT, Marketing, Retail, Distribution Centers, and other departments to curate and author content for corporate internal communication channels and vehicles.
  • Performs operational work such as managing distribution lists, updating the communications calendar, and reviewing communications intake requests.
  • Supports the rollout and use of SharePoint as our intranet.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or related or equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education preferred.

Years of Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of working in a corporate internal communications team at a mid-large size company.

Skills

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Exceptional planning, organization, coordination, and collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with the highest standards for quality, accuracy, relevance, and consistency of content.
  • A keen sense of urgency and ability to manage a fast-paced environment, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to produce written content quickly—for multiple voices—and distill complex concepts into easy-to-understand language, accessible to all audiences.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Receptive to and comfortable with regular feedback and a collaborative editing process.
  • Proficiency with using Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Power Point and Outlook) is required.
  • Prior SharePoint management experience is highly desired.
  • Experience using Adobe design tools highly desired; Canva or related design experience may be considered instead of Adobe.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

General office environment requiring ability to:

  • Stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time.
  • Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone and video conferencing.
  • Use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports.
  • The ability to lift up to 15 lbs.
