COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST
MJMA is seeking a ?Communications Specialist’ to join our growing 80-person interdisciplinary Toronto studio, which is focused on design excellence in public projects. As a ?Communications Specialist’, you will work within the ?COMSS’ Team (Communications, Operations, Marketing, Strategy, and Storytelling) - as well as the larger integrated design studio of Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Experiential Graphic Design, and Engagement - to help deliver full service, holistic design solutions. This role requires an organized and proactive doer, who has the confidence to bring a fresh perspective to our team.
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in a communications role within a design studio is a must.
- The ideal candidate will have a degree in either Marketing/Communications, English, Architecture, Interiors, or Graphic Design, or related design field.
- Demonstrated multi-tasking abilities and can work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational, planning, time management and prioritization skills.
- Responsive, assertive, resourceful, and self-motivated.
- Able to work independently, seek input, and ask for help from team members when needed.
- Strong writing, editing, or graphic skills are a must.
- Advanced user in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities:
Working closely and collaboratively with the COMSS team and studio leadership, the primary responsibility and focus of the position is within Communications and Storytelling to support a studio brand refresh, and elevating presence on online and media platforms. This includes:
- implementing a graphic and brand refresh of new website, social media approach, and supporting templates;
- developing a digital media plan and monitoring optimization data;
- curating and maintaining news and outward communications of staff participation in industry events;
- coordinating and art directing project and event photography and video;
- being the public relations contact for external media;
- supporting presentation development for speaking engagements; and
- copy-writing and layout development.
