Description:
Evoke is a learning and wellness centre that supports neurodiverse students striving to achieve their full academic potential and enhance their social-emotional well-being. Our approach is holistic. As a student-centred service, we understand that everyone’s learning journey is unique, and we consider the student to be the expert in their own life. Our goal is to move students from underperformance to personal achievement, providing them with the support to reach their academic goals.
Evoke works with many types of students, including:
· Students who are struggling academically.
· Neurodiverse students diagnosed with learning disabilities, ADHD, executive dysfunction, ASD, and/or giftedness.
· Students who are underperforming and have much greater potential to achieve their goals.
· Learners who require intensive instruction or additional time to process information, without feeling stigmatized in the classroom.
· Students who are capable of completing academic work but need to acquire strategies and skills to increase their success.
· Students with extraordinary goals.
Evoke Learning is growing, again, and currently seeking a part-time communicative disorders professional to provide reading intervention tutoring sessions, remotely, to struggling readers. This is a part-time independent contractor position that requires availability five days a week, Monday-Friday, for a minimum of 10 hours a week. Candidates must have availability during Evoke’s primary reading program hours, which include weekday afternoons between 3:30pm and 7:00pm (EST). Only a very limited number of students are available for reading remediation during daytime hours, apart from the summer months. Evoke’s reading program runs all calendar year long.
Reading remediation tutors provide targeted, explicit, systematic instruction aligned with the science of reading to improve literacy outcomes for students. Using Evoke Learning’s reading remediation curriculum, reading remediation tutors are responsible for delivering lesson plans, and assessing and monitoring student progress to ensure intervention is strategic and measured.
