The Community Benefit Specialist assists Reid Health achieve its mission to lead our communities to well-being, one person at a time by effectively developing, coordinating, implementing, and reporting Reid’s Community Benefit and outreach initiatives. The Community Benefit Specialist is primarily responsible for providing programmatic management and administrative support to the community benefit process and outreach programs for Reid. This position requires commitment to the overall improvement of the community health status by identifying organizations, services, and resources within Reid and the community and coordinating those resources to maximize impact on community health.

Overview of Responsibilities:
- Serves as a community resource by developing, building and nurturing relationships with people and organizations involved in meeting the health and social needs of the community, particularly serving disadvantaged populations.
- Through a broad range of community relationships, continually assesses, understands, and keeps record of social and health services provided throughout the region through other community organizations.
- Creates alliances with community organizations and government to coalesce a system of services that bridge hospital and community efforts in a cohesive, cost effective, and efficient manner.
- Facilitates the matching of Reid’s community benefit resources to community organizations best positioned to impact highest community needs.
- Monitors projects funded through Reid’s community benefit program to ensure achievement of expected goals and tasks.
- In collaboration with other organizations, plans and implements community programs as part of the hospital-wide strategic initiative to manage the entire continuum of care with a focus on prevention and wellness.
- Coordinates programs supported by Community Benefit, including Medical Monday, Thriving Thursday and Let’s Talk Together to include strategic planning of program topics and guests that align with identified health needs in Reid’s service area.
- Assists Director in managing and implementing Reid’s Community Health Needs Assessment process to identify health issues within our region.
- Serves as a community liaison to meet objectives identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment.
- Maintains and reports Reid’s Community Benefit program for all necessary constituencies, including utilization of CBISA software (Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability) which assists in data collection for the completion of the IRS Form 990 Schedule H.
- Assists Director in managing and implementing the Community Benefit grant process in which community organizations apply to Reid for funding, including preparation for the Community Well-Being Committee meetings and acting as a resource to that Committee.
- Maintains Community Benefit program policies and procedures. Stays current with best practices concerning Community Benefit.
- Remains informed on local, State, and national health legislation and initiatives that could impact our community.
- Manages and maintains the ReidCommunities.org data website as it pertains to landing pages, page template changes, and analytics.
Education/Experience:
Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in applicable field required.
Education Preferred: Master’s degree preferred in areas of social science, applied
science, health science, or health services management.
Experience Required: Minimum of five years experience with a hospital, health
agency, or community service organization with demonstrated advancement of position
and responsibilities.
Experience Preferred: Knowledge and experience in the areas of community benefit,
population health, and mental health
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Passion for the health and wellness of the community, particularly for disadvantaged populations.
- Ability to develop positive working relationships with a wide range of constituencies.
- Excellent written and oral command of the English language, including proficiency in public speaking.
- Sensitivity to and ability to engage and motivate people from varying cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Computer literacy required in Microsoft Office applications including, Excel, Word, Teams, and Power Point.
- Ability to facilitate, convene and organize groups of people, both community and staff to reach a defined objective.
- Well organized, able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, and independently and creatively.
- Self-directed and self-motivated.
- High level proficiency utilizing technology for in person as well as virtual presentations and interactive community meetings.
Travel will be required to events and organizations in Reid’s service area (Wayne, Randolph, Henry, Fayette, Union, Franklin, Preble, and Darke counties)
Schedule Details: Day shift. 40 hours weekly. Daily schedule with vary depending on community meetings/events. Occasional evenings or weekends required to support events. What We Offer:
