The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders and Food and Nutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centers. The Faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students).

About PEPR: PEPR is a five-year SSHRC funded project, the PEPR Partnership seeks to determine what meaningful engagement should look like based on the knowledges and experiences of people with lived experience of chronic pain and marginalization, raise questions about social and health inequity and its role in health research partnerships, and provide sustainability to the work people with lived experience perform in service of advancing research and changing policy. PEPR advances engagement in chronic pain research. PEPR is a five-year multi-disciplinary partnership. Our primary objective is to support Canadian academic and non-academic partners to conduct innovative and inclusive research related to chronic pain and marginalization that optimizes co-creation of knowledge and participation of, and outcomes for, PWLECPM.

Project description: The purpose of the Community Consultations Project, which is is a foundational project for the PEPR Partnership, is to elicit input from systemically and structurally marginalized communities or groups both within health care and broader social settings about approaches to patient engagement in chronic pain research.
Duties: coordinate the community consultations project; perform qualitative data collection and analysis, including conducting interviews and focus groups; identify and liaise with patient organizations and communities, especially those subjected to systemic and structural marginalization; meet regularly with the Community Consultations Committee; provide insight and feedback on the direction/findings of the community consultations project; report to the Partnership Director and Research Manager; conduct environmental scans, literature reviews, and other day to day research duties as required; assist in the dissemination of research results; organize meetings for the research team.
Qualifications: undergraduate degree in a relevant social science discipline; MA preferred; training in critical theory; minimum 2 years related experience working with communities and/or conducting qualitative research; knowledge of social and health inequities
Location: virtual position. Please note that travel will be required for this position.
