ISL’s Edmonton Community Development Team delivers new residential neighbourhoods, multi-family, infill redevelopments, commercial & industrial developments, infrastructure renewals, and community parks. We routinely collaborate with multi-discipline ISL teams including Community Planning, Landscape Architecture, Transportation, Water and Buildings. Externally, the team works with private developers, architects, provincial agencies, municipalities and contractors to ensure efficient project execution.

  • Variety of Clients – our team works with a variety of clients ranging from private developers to municipalities across central and northern Alberta.
  • Interesting Work – Some notable past projects include Erin Ridge North (St. Albert), Aga Khan Exhibit (UofA Botanic Garden), Laurel Meadows (Edmonton), Brewery District Redevelopment (Edmonton), Garneau Residential Towers (Edmonton), Glengarry District Park (Edmonton), and Grande Prairie Hospital (Grande Prairie).

    A Little More About the Role
    You are experienced in navigating fostering strong working relationships with the numerous partners involved in land development and look forward to joining a multidisciplinary organization. You are anticipatory by nature and often see risk before it happens. At this stage of your career you are also looking forward to growing with a team and would be excited by the opportunity to mentor junior staff on all things risk mitigation, business development and offer your technical expertise.

Reporting to the Community Development Manager, your primary responsibilities would include:

  • Prepare sanitary, storm and water servicing design briefs/reports
  • Design/prepare preliminary grading and servicing plans for site and land development projects
  • Design road and utility alignments, existing and proposed grade profiles and cross sections
  • Preparation of cost estimates and associated summaries
  • Preparation of tender and contract documents including editing notice to tenderers, instruction to tenderers, tender form, supplementary general conditions, special provisions and detailed specifications
  • Complete Civil3D designs including grading functions, pipe networks, profiles, surfaces, and earthworks comparisons
  • Collaboration on projects both locally and across ISL disciplines and offices
  • Review and confirm progress claims quantities
  • Track progress during construction
  • Visit construction site to monitor progress and other duties as per the contract documents
