Description:

Language Empire, a leading provider of face-to-face interpreting and translation services, is seeking a Community Engagement Officer to join our team. With a focus on providing high-quality language solutions to public sector organisations throughout the UK, we pride ourselves on our dedication to delivering exceptional service in over 500 languages. As the Community Engagement Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our company continues to operate responsibly and ethically, while also making a positive impact on society. You will lead our community initiatives, build meaningful relationships, and ensure our services reach underrepresented and marginalised communities. You will also contribute to our social value and sustainability goals, making a tangible difference to both our organisation and the communities we serve.

What will you be doing?

  • Identify and connect with underrepresented and marginalised individuals and groups, encouraging them to take part in collaborative initiatives
  • Facilitate inclusive conversations, workshops, and focus groups to gather community insights.
  • Plan and deliver community events, forums, and educational activities.
  • Represent the organisation at school recruitment events, job fairs and other engagements.
  • Collect and analyse feedback, document outcomes, and share insights for improvement.
  • Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, and the company website.
  • Write case studies and support bid management with detailed activity reports.
  • Act as the main point of contact at events, coordinating on-site activities.
  • Develop systems to monitor and report progress across initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong facilitation skills to lead workshops and community activities.
  • Passionate about community development, inclusivity, and social justice.
  • Excellent networking abilities and relationship management skills.
  • Self-motivated, with strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proven experience in community engagement, outreach, or facilitation roles.
  • Familiarity with participatory approaches to service design.
  • Experience working with diverse or marginalised communities.
  • Familiarity with the Social Value Act
  • Knowledge of social value frameworks (e.g., ESG) is desirable.
  • GCSE/O Level (or equivalent) at grade C/4 or above in English and Maths.
  • Qualification in Social Value desirable
  • Reliable transportation for travel to events across the country.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours when required.
  • Ability to reliably commute to our office in Rochdale
