WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU…

Here at the Care Quality Commission, we are seeking to recruit and strengthen our team of Specialist Advisors with expertise in Mental Health and Community Health Services.
We have a particular need for specialists in the following health services:
General Community Specialist Advisors
Children’s Community Specialist Advisors
Health Visiting Specialist Advisors (must be Health Visitor qualified)
School Nursing (must be School Nursing qualified)
Tissue Viability
Sexual Health
Therapy, including Occupational Health, Physio and Senior Leadership Team.

Responsibilities:

LET US TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE ROLE….

The CQC’s approach to regulation is to inspect healthcare services with professionally skilled Specialist Advisors who have experience of working in that type of service as an essential member of the inspection team. Specialist Advisors provide specialist advice and knowledge and support the CQC’s inspection activity. This advice ensures that our judgements are informed by up to date and credible clinical and professional knowledge and experience.
This role offers successful candidates with the opportunity to visit and learn from other services across the country.
The role is ad-hoc and can run alongside your current job. Many providers encourage this within study leave or professional leave as it is a valuable tool for service improvement and personal development. Feedback is provided which is valuable for professional development, annual appraisal and revalidation.

TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING:

Essential Conditions
Qualified Nurse, Doctor or Allied Health Professional
Currently employed by an NHS trust or Independent Healthcare Provider
Currently working in a clinical setting
Current registration with the appropriate professional body
Up to date with best practice for your specialist field
You will have up-to-date and credible clinical and professional knowledge and experience which will help you evaluate and analyse evidence and information. You should be a skilled communicator, with the ability to engage with staff, patients and stakeholders at every level. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to interpret complex information and be comfortable working transparently as part of a team.
You are not committed to undertaking a specific number of inspections throughout the year; however most people do one inspection every few months. We try to give you 6 weeks’ notice ahead of inspection, but this is not always possible, as we do inspect dependent on risk and some of this may be at short notice. We have a scheduling department which will be your contact and who will organise your availability.
The inspections are mostly on-site; however, we may request your support remotely on occasion, and where travel, accommodation and subsistence are incurred, they will be reimbursed within the parameters of CQC policy.
Within your supporting statement (maximum one side of A4) you should tell us about your professional qualification, current and recent roles, the service you work in and organisation you work for, how you keep yourself up to date and your relevant skills and recent experience within the relevant Community Health service.
Successful candidates will be invited to participate in an assessment. be aware that we will be shortlisting and assessing candidates throughout September on a first come, first served basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide timely, robust and objective specialist advice to CQC staff, either through verbal or written communication.
Accompany CQC representatives on inspection and activity to identified provider organisations and provide relevant advice and input to your specialist area in order to support appropriate judgements to be made.
Observe the highest standards of impartiality, integrity and objectivity in relation to advice and activities that are undertaken on CQC’s behalf.
Adopt an approach of openness and transparency in all business activities and the provision of advice undertaken on CQC’s behalf.
Ensure all work carried out is within the scope of that required and relevant CQC policies/guidance are adhered to.
Maintain the confidentiality of information that is accessed in the course of work undertaken for CQC.
