REQUIREMENTS
You must be a team player and have the ability to accept responsibility and make decisions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to engage with the young people and a wide range of stakeholders
You will be able to organise your workload using a systematic approach to ensure high standards are maintained.
You must be able to keep accurate and up to date records and have competency in basic computing and IT.
You will be capable of logical thinking, practical problem-solving, objective assessment skills and report writing.
You must also be able to motivate and support others.
Having knowledge of and experience of managing risk is also a key factor.
Being creative and flexible is desired for the successful candidate.
You should have a commitment to ongoing professional development to acquire the skills and knowledge relating to the role and developing expertise to provide support to others.
The successful candidate should have an SVQ Level 3 (or be willing to work towards this).
You will be required to accompany young people to and from appointments, carry out home visits and do outreach work throughout the Perth & Kinross area, including rural areas, therefore you must have a valid UK driving licence and access to a car.
THE INDIVIDUAL
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and highly motivated individual to work as an outreach worker for the Right Track Service.
This will involve supporting young people to stabilise their lifestyle, in a variety of ways.
The person employed will be expected to work alongside the Right Track Co-ordinator to help the young people formulate personal development plans.
The Outreach Worker will actively assist and support actioning these plans, and help the young people attend a variety of key appointments, such as medical, employment, substance misuse, and housing.
Assisting a young person to structure their time more meaningfully is a necessary role.
As the young people are some of the most difficult to engage with, you will have experience of and a proven record of working with young people who have come into the Justice System.
