ABOUT US

The Office of Addictions and Mental Health (OAMH) works closely with the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) and the Izaak Walton Killam Health Centre (IWK) Mental Health and Addictions programs (MHAP). OAMH also works and partners with numerous community-based organizations to fund and support the delivery of important mental health and addiction services. In addition to traditional mental health and addiction support, our work also includes interventions and actions that will help address the social determinants of health, including collaboration with our partners within and across government departments.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As the Community Liaison Coordinator:

  • You are a key member of OAMH team, providing guidance and leadership for community engagement and direction on the Community Wellness Framework.
  • You will manage dynamic projects by working collaboratively with multiple partners across community, government and the health system settings.
  • You lead and contribute to important policy and strategy initiatives, ensuring a focus on a community, health system and equity lens.
  • You ensure evidence-informed analysis of the impact and implications of current and proposed policy, projects, standards and funding/investment decisions on community and government and health system partners.
  • You support the current community and partner grant programs including providing advice, oversight on standards, accountability, and reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

As the successful candidate you have a post-secondary degree in a related discipline (e.g. social science or health and human services) and several years of related experience. An acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Graduate degrees in a related field and work experience in the field of addictions and mental health would be considered as asset.

As the successful Community Liaison Coordinator will:

  • Have experience in policy analysis and preparing reports and briefing materials.
  • Understand legislative processes.
  • Have experience in engaging diverse groups and building strong relationships.
  • Have strong communication skills (both verbal and written) along with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Have experience managing complex projects and being a team player.
  • Have strong organizational skills and capacity to prioritize work under tight timelines, including the ability to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Be skilled with computer software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.
