Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary education in a field related to mental health and addictions
- 2 years of experience in a mental health and social services setting
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Demonstrated knowledge and aptitude for working with individuals with mental health and co-occurring disorders
- Successful completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI)
- Current SafeTALK, or willingness to obtain within one (1) year of assuming the position
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Drivers Licence, or equivalent from province of residence, and access to a personal vehicle to provide service within Prairie Mountain Health
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint), as well as Internet applications and other Information
- Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated communication skills
- Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures
- Ability to display independent judgment
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population
- Ability to respect and promote confidentiality
- Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Mental Health Support Worker (CSW) works under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor, Mental Health Services to provide community based and assertive outreach services. The CSW applies knowledge related to motivation, community development, and co-occurring mental health and substance use issues, to help the client attain their optimal level of functioning and prevent or postpone further disability, in partnership with the client, the Community Mental Health Worker and the client’s care team.
