At UHCW we are looking to recruit experienced midwives to provide excellence in care within the Coventry and Rugby area. The primary aim of the role is to ensure a high quality service is delivered to women and their families across the community setting. The role is multidimensional and requires the post holder to integrate and fulfil care within the community setting.
Having successfully introduced integrated team’s model, the post holder will have the opportunity to work flexibly within the Community, enabling the women of Coventry and Warwickshire to receive high quality personalised care.
In order to be considered for this post, you must hold the relevant UK NMC registration or be in a position to successfully apply for this at the point of your application.
Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Will contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
Effectively communicate information regarding clinical decisions, policy and care pathways to patients/carers and the multi-professional team.
A skilled practitioner and clinical leader providing support to the management team, participating in service/policy development.
Responsible for clinical assessment of a group of patients and management of a team, ensuring appropriate care is planned, implemented and evaluated/audited.
Responsible for the maintenance and development of her/his clinical skills.
Participates in community midwifery or hospital on call rota.
Participates in regular clinical orientation updates within maternity inpatient service.
Organisation of cross-departmental/organisational activities including HR, resource, and bleep-holder responsibilities as appropriate.
Act for team leader in her/his absence.
Demonstrate highly technical and/or practical skills to ensure optimum patient management including; complex patient monitoring; equipment management and frequent administration of invasive tests/procedures.

Develop and educate staff, participating in mentorship and appraisal as required.
Utilise and ensure others utilise IT systems to secure accurate and timely patient, workforce and resource data available.
Manage expected and unexpected clinical events requiring varying levels of physical effort according to patient dependency/clinical needs.
Support patients, carers and others during difficult situations arising in the clinical area, e.g imparting bad news or following an unexpected event.
To participate in teaching and preparation for parenthood sessions.
Develop a knowledge of the Child Protection strategy and its implementation.
Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times.
Promote and monitor adherence to Health and Safety and Trust policy designed to protect healthcare staff and service users from known hazards.
