About the role
We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Community Ministry Worker to develop, facilitate and deliver quality needs-based community programs that respond to identified needs of the Shoalhaven community.
Reporting to the Corps Officers, this is a permanent, full-time position based in Nowra,NSW.

You will successfully

  • Develop new initiatives and activities that meet the needs of community members.
  • Build relationships with clients, the community and Corps members and other key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to pastoral and spiritual needs of the community with sensitivity and effectiveness.
  • Undertake financial tasks, including invoicing, purchasing, banking and receipting donations.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers.

You will have

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, at degree level with experience; or diploma level with substantial experience in community services or social work; or less formal qualifications with specialised skills sufficient to perform at this level.
  • A NSW Employee Working with Children Check.
  • A strong commitment to the Christian faith and mission of The Salvation Army; a solid understanding of The Salvation Army’s doctrines and principles.
  • The ability to offer pastoral assistance, to offer prayer and to explain the Christian Gospel.
  • Experience in community engagement on behalf of a religious institution or not-for-profit organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and running community-based activities.
  • Experience managing volunteers or employees.
  • Well-developed communication skills and confidence in public speaking and relationship management.
