Description:

Are you a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) fluent in French and English and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario? Do you excel in a dynamic role that combines advocacy, case management, hands-on nursing care, and education? The Ottawa Rotary Home is seeking a dedicated Community Nurse Consultant for a 1-year maternity leave coverage contract to support developmental service agencies across the Ottawa region.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registered Practical Nurse (RPN): Must be in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Bilingual Proficiency: This role requires complete fluency in French and English, both written and spoken. Candidates must demonstrate full professional proficiency in both languages, including writing reports, delivering training, and providing hands-on medical and health-related support.
  • Advocacy Skills: Demonstrated ability to advocate for individuals and agencies, ensuring access to quality healthcare resources.
  • Training Expertise: A strong background in developing and delivering education to unregulated care providers and other stakeholders is a strong asset.
  • Hands-On Clinical Skills: Proficient in administering injections, catheterization, and other intervention-based nursing tasks.
  • Developmental Services Knowledge: Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and complex medical needs is an asset.

Responsibilities:

The Community Nurse Consultant plays a vital role in assisting developmental service agencies in the Ottawa region by providing:

  • Advocacy and Case Management: Collaborating with agencies to identify needs and navigate complex health and wellness challenges.
  • Training and Education: Developing and delivering training programs for unregulated care providers and agency staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in medical care and health management.
  • Health System Navigation: Assisting agencies in accessing health resources and coordinating with external healthcare providers.
  • Wellness Visits: Conducting on-site visits to assess and support the overall health and wellness of individuals receiving care.
  • Hands-On Medical Support: Providing intervention visits, such as administering injections, catheterization, or other essential nursing procedures.

This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule, with the flexibility to adjust hours to accommodate community visits when needed.
