Why we need you
At CCS we are committed to improving the cancer experience by helping people with cancer live their lives more fully. The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life brings together communities united by the same goal of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer. Relay is an opportunity to celebrate those who live and have lived in the face of cancer.
What we’re looking for
- You understand that cancer can change everything and that accessing critical programs and services creates a whole new level of community.
- You recognize that the Community Outreach role is core to increasing Relay participants’ knowledge of CCS programs and services.
- You are excited about learning more about cancer initiatives that CCS has been responsible for and as a good communicator you can present flexibly to large and small groups.
- You are ready to do your best to make the Relay experience an informative and inspiring time, sharing the impact volunteering and participating has on those who have been impacted by cancer.
Our Investment
As an organization we will provide you with online resources, training and support to help you lead the Community Outreach side of this community event.
You will also be supported by the Relay Director, Community Engagement, a fellow volunteer, who will oversee all aspects around bringing more community partners to Relay.
You will be part of the larger Relay community and have opportunity to learn and mentor as you engage with CCS staff and volunteers.
Your commitment
- This is an important leadership role. We are anticipating an ongoing level of commitment which will include regular monthly meetings with the entire committee.
- Between the committee meetings you will be learning about CCS initiatives and exploring opportunities in your community to explain the impact CCS initiatives have had for Canadians.
- You will communicate consistently and regularly with the other volunteers on the committee whose responsibilities overlap with yours. You will also stay connected with the Relay Director, Community Engagement
- As the event date approaches your time commitment will increase. On event day your leadership, as you ensure the event is fun and informative, will be critical in creating the sense of accomplishment that everyone will go home with, knowing that their actions have created something bigger than cancer.
