Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Tsuut’ina Nation Police Community Outreach Research and Program Coordinator will be responsible for liaising with Tsuut’ina community members and groups, as well as with outside policing agencies in relation to the Building Safer Communities Fund (BSCF) grant addressing gun and gang violence. This position will manage the RKeepers7 project, funded by the BSCF grant. This position will manage the grant-specific administration activities such as the reports, data tracking, data dissemination, community partnership contracts, and the evaluation of community partnership projects. This position be part of a team that will deliver the initiatives outlined in the comprehensive three-year gun and gang prevention and intervention strategy that was created during the BSCF Developmental Year. The Program Coordinator will provide supervision and leadership to the Community Outreach Specialist to effectively support the community partnership program and the BSCF strategy initiatives. Implementing the strategy’s sustainability plan to create long-term benefit for the community is also a part of this position. This role requires strong leadership and relationship building skills. Experience with outreach in Indigenous communities is an asset, as is experience with Indigenous policing, and criminal justice.

Roles and responsibilities
- Facilitate community consultations with, but not limited to, the Tsuut’ina Nation, the Stoney Nakoda communities of Eden Valley and Morley, along with the Siksika community, partner agencies, Elders, community youth, and former gang associates.
- Develops, coordinates, and delivers grant programs by evaluating all required criteria with key focus on developing community-based prevention and intervention strategies and initiatives to tackle gun and gang violence.
- Collect both qualitative and quantitative data using both traditional and non-traditional methods.
- Liaise with outside agencies to collect, manage and distribute relevant crime and intelligence information, including prevention/intervention initiatives.
- Apply analytical techniques to crime and intelligence data or investigative projects in order identify emerging themes, gaps in service, and evolving issues.
- Interpret inferences regarding the intentions and vulnerabilities of individuals and groups, including at-risk youth, with specific focus on gun and gang related matters.
- Implement supportive strategies to deliver a collaborative and comprehensive three-year gun and gang prevention and intervention plan as outlined in the BSCF strategy.
- Strive to increase the knowledge of the nature, scope and identified challenges of gun and gang violence education.
- Manage and monitor grant-focused activities to achieve successful outcomes and meet key targets and initiatives.
- Develop effective communication processes to ensure project progress and issue reporting to all collaborative partners.
- Provide supervision and leadership to Community Outreach Liaison to ensure the successful delivery of the strategy within community.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned and required.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Post-secondary education with a concentration in Statistical Analysis, Criminology, Psychology, Social Sciences, research- related studies, is preferred. Plus, additional courses/training in intelligence analysis process database management techniques and research methodology.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience having developed a solid foundation in tools, methods and techniques used in crime and intelligence analysis work or in working with Indigenous communities
- Previous policing and/or law enforcement experience is considered an asset
- Proficiency with Office suite applications.
Licenses and Certificates
- Current Province of Alberta driver’s license with safe driving record.
Certification as a Crime / Intelligence Analyst is preferred.
Additional notes
An enhanced security clearance will be required for candidates selected for this position.
- Please note Priority will be given to Community members of Tsuut’ina Nation who meet the qualifications and skills.

- This position is a grant-funded position contingent upon annual BSCF funding from Public Safety Canada (PSC). The grant is currently funded until March 31, 2026.
