OPPORTUNITY
MacEwan University is seeking a diplomatic and influential Community Relations Coordinator for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Community Relations department. Reporting to the Director, you will help establish, elevate and progress the community relations work of the institution, through community outreach and engagement, issues mitigation, partnerships, sponsorships, brand elevation, purpose-focused student opportunities and engagements, industry relationships, and strategic positioning of the institution within the community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Facilitating and coordinating details for the development of strategic partnership and sponsorship agreements, which includes consulting, reviewing, researching, and drafting.
- Facilitating and coordinating the development of Community Relations led events;
- Leading initiatives, projects, and events;
- Implementing strategic partnership and sponsorship priorities;
- Identifying organizations, industries and sectors that can be developed to meet MacEwan’s community engagement goals and needs, which includes research, building prospect profiles, highlighting key areas for opportunity and creating Outreach Development and Community Engagement plans;
- Initiating outreach to key external organizations and existing community partners;
- Consulting and collaborating with faculties and departments across campus;
- Creating briefings, runs of shows, speaking notes, draft emails, templates, reports, summaries, and basic graphics;
- Managing a partnership database and an internal event listing of activities taking place in MacEwan;
- Recording and tracking data;
- Reporting on initiative outcomes, successes, challenges, and opportunities;
- Designing and delivering presentations; and
- Acting as a representative at celebrations, fundraisers, meetings, symposia, issues forums, city initiatives, and events.
SKILLS
You will have:
- The ability to prioritize and strategize on various approaches to engage with internal and external entities;
- The ability to lead the development, consultation, implementation and coordination of projects and assignments;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including communication, issues management, rapport and relationship building, and in maintaining connections;
- The ability to present and communicate recommendations in a professional, clear and organized manner;
- The ability to assess, analyze and find creative and simple solutions and process improvements;
- The ability to creatively and professionally exercise judgement, insight, and logic to identify areas of risk and opportunity;
- Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to progress projects, manage challenging conversations, diffuse tensions, and build consensus; and
- Persuasive and articulate written and verbal communication skills.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in public relations, community relations, communications, business, marketing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of public or community relations experience working on foundational community relations initiatives, process development, outreach, and relationship development.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
