The Village of Tinley Park (population approximately 56,000) seeks qualified applicants to fill the part-time position of Community Service Officer (CSO) – Field Operations, a non-sworn position, responsible for providing general support to the Police Department and service to Village residents through community policing.

The CSO-Field Operations position will be responsible for community policing responsibilities enforcing Village ordinances and performing other duties that do not require physical arrest and/or do not relate to crime in progress. This position will patrol the Village utilizing a motorized vehicle and observe vehicles and pedestrians reporting suspicious circumstances or other situations requiring police intervention. Will identify traffic hazards and either mitigate them or notify proper authority, remove illegal signs placed throughout the Village, and enforce municipal ordinances relating to non-criminal complaints. This position will also give information and provide assistance to the public, write and issue non-traffic citations, attend court as required, and prepare reports on assigned incidents using desktop computers or mobile data terminals. Will also provide a variety of specialized services including motorist assistance, assisting crossing guards at school crossings, traffic control and direction (including Hollywood Casino Amphitheater). vacation house watch services and security checks, police department station tours, and fingerprinting individuals for non-criminal purposes. Will also assist with the police fleet of vehicles transporting police vehicles to Public Works or other service providers for cleaning, maintenance, and repair
