Community Team Leader for the Horton Midwifery Led Unit and Banbury Community Midwifery Team
Band 7 Team Leader
37.5 Hours (job shares considered)
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as the Team Leader for the
Horton Midwifery Led Unit and Banbury Community Midwifery team.
You will be responsible for leading a team of Midwives and Maternity Support Workers in the Banbury area to provide a community midwifery service and 24/7 cover of a stand alone birth centre based at the Horton General Hospital.
You will work closely with the Matron for Community Services and Deputy Head of Midwifery for Community, Public Health & Safeguarding.
We are looking for someone passionate about community midwifery and women centred, individualised care. The post holder will need to be invested in nurturing the team to encourage a positive working environment.

The team lead has continuing responsibility for the management of the community team and services in their area or equivalent sphere of midwifery practice. This includes assessment of care needs, the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care and
the setting of standards.
The Midwife will facilitate innovative and evidence based midwifery practice through professional leadership and supporting the clinical team.
The Midwife will have managerial responsibility for a group of staff working within their practice area.
The Midwife will act as a credible and professional role model and encourage and empower staff to develop personally and professionally to achieve their maximum potential.
The Midwife will liaise with all members of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate a collaborative approach to women, their baby’s and family’s care to promote the close integration of community and hospital-based care.
The Midwife will report directly to and develop close working relationships with the Matron for Community and the Deputy Head of Midwifery on operational and general management issues and clinical issues relevant to their practice area/team.
The Midwife will liaise with members of the OBU Midwifery Education Team to develop an effective learning environment for students.
The Midwife will assist the Director of Midwifery / Deputy Head of Midwifery in achieving the strategic objectives for the Maternity service.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION AND RESEARCH:
Actively participate in the preceptorship of newly qualified midwives and new midwifery staff in liaison with the OBU education staff / Practice Development Midwives.
Work with the OBU education staff to develop an effective learning environment.
Identify own personal development needs in association with line manager via the annual appraisal process. Agree a personal develop programme congruent with personal, Directorate or Trust needs that addresses further development in managerial and leadership skills and responsibilities.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Reports and investigate accidents / untoward incidents involving service users and / or staff following OUHFT Trust policies and inform the Deputy Head of Midwifery / Matron for Community as appropriate.
Be responsible for Health and Safety within own practice area, ensuring that the Trust’s Health and Safety Policy is adhered to, safeguarding the environment for service users, staff and visitors.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times in accordance with the OUHFT Trust’s Confidentiality Policy.
